Erin is a Registered Dietitian (RD) and a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist in the state of North Carolina (LDN) and has a bachelor's degree in Dietetics and Consumer Foods from the University of Georgia. She completed a Dietetic Internship at Saint Louis University in Saint Louis, MO, where she focused on clinical and community nutrition. Erin will receive her Master’s degree in Human Nutrition from Winthrop University in December of 2009 upon completion of her special topic entitled, “Effect of Dialysis Adequacy on Nutritional Intake and Hypogeusia in Adult Patients Receiving Maintenance Hemodialysis.”
Erin stresses great importance on establishing rapport and communication, both verbally and written. She is an effective counselor and educator, especially when practicing motivational interviewing. She encourages clients to engage themselves every session to formulate the best, realistic goals. Erin emphasizes the need for small and building changes, both through diet and exercise, to prevent discouragement. She is always a phone call or email away, and is excited to meet you and help you meet your individual needs. Her goal is for all clients to leave each counseling session satisfied and with increased self confidence.
Erin's expertise in nutrition is evident through her passion for the dietetics field and continuous review of up–to–date research findings for many disease states of various age groups. Her clinical and counseling experiences at Saint Louis University and Food Outreach, and her personal marathon training have allowed her to develop a specialty in disease management, women’s needs, and sports nutrition. Currently Erin is a member of the American Dietetic Association (ADA) and the Charlotte Dietetic Association (CDA). She is also a member of the Dietetic Practice Group, Nutrition in Complementary Care. Contact Erin at: erin@nutrition-specialists.com.
